Constructed as part of a complex that includes a 555m skyscraper, sprawling mall, aquarium, and cinemaplex, the Lotte Concert Hall stands out as being the first classical concert hall to open in Seoul for nearly 30 years. Located on the 7-11th floors of the Lotte World Mall, the hall invites the dedicated listener and casual shopper alike to enjoy visiting orchestras and Korean popular ensembles.

A double concrete structure floating on rubber pads prevents noise and vibration from the mall and nearby subway line from disrupting performances. To ensure clarity while creating a reverberant field, the design process included a 1:10 physical scale model in conjunction with computer simulations. The space is intended primarily for classical acoustic performances, but a system of stage carpet, baffles, and mechanically operated banners reduces the relatively long reverberation to allow amplified performances.
